7 months

So, it’s been a month since we’ve been able to post anything here–sorry! Elliott’s 6th month went by like a whirlwind. I’m not sure we have even recovered from the holidays at this point. After we settled back into our day-to-day routine after our vacation travels, the legislative session got underway and Mama’s coworker went out on maternity leave (welcome to a new baby E!). We also had Mama’s friend’s wedding to prepare for and a full weekend of festivities to attend around that as well. This month Elliott also attended his first Martin Luther King March in downtown Atlanta and got his first little hair trim to make his bangs stop poking him in the eye.

Early in the month, he had his 6 month check up where he weighed in at 27 inches tall and nearly 18 lbs. At this rate, he’ll outgrow his infant car seat this month. His status on the growth charts dropped a little, but he’s still a bit above average. Around 65th percentile for height and 55th for weight. He is sitting up on his own now which opens up a lot of possibilities for play! Though he has shown signs of teething for some time, we still have no teeth. And though he’s shown signs of it for some time, we also still have no mobility. He can roll, for example, but he just doesn’t seem to want to unless he’s really peeved about being on his tummy. This month has brought solids consistently into E’s diet. He’s tried sweet potato, rice cereal, banana, apple, oatmeal, butternut squash, white potato, berries, peas, prunes and avocado. He seems to love food just as much as Mama and Dad do.

From what we read, it’s totally normal that we still are waking up a few times during the night, but that has also taken its toll. Between late pregnancy and new motherhood, Mama hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in about 9 months.

Elliott is, of course, worth it, and he continues to get cuter and cuter. For Christmas, we made some calendars on one of those photo Web sites, and a copy hangs on our fridge. It’s so strange to look at his teeny smushed newborn self–and to think that we thought he was so cute back then!

Here are a few photos documenting his 6th month.
