12 weeks old

Elliott is 12 weeks old today, and he’s completely adorable…  We learned that my Great-Aunt Nonnie (Wynona) isn’t doing well today, so we’re thinking of her and hoping that she hangs in there long enough to meet Elliott.

Elliott’s been part of Team Kaye for 11 weeks now. His hair is getting so long that it’s actually starting to lay down (sometimes). This week, he got his first massage at our Thursday Infant Massage class, and he loved it. He talked up a storm at both Infant Massage and Postpartum Yoga like he does to his cow and to NPR. I fear we may have an early talker on our hands. He’s already making consonant sounds… he’s not up to true babbling yet, but it’s only a matter of time. He often gets grumpy now during dinner when we neglect to include him in our conversation.

This week, he also spent 4 hours with a babysitter while Mama was at a retreat at church–we all did great! We also had an afternoon visit with Grandma AND his first bath in the big people bathtub.

Round and round the baby goes…

Daddy improvised a merry-go-round for Elliott this week with very pleasing results.

10 weeks old

Elliott is 10 weeks old today. He is smiling and talking up a storm, and he likes to “play” with his toys, i.e. he likes to look at them and try his hardest to hit them with his hands and feet. He especially likes his cow flower, which is attached to his car seat, and who seems to be the only being that truly understands him. They seem to have some pretty serious conversations sometimes, anyway.

Weekend in the mountains

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

We spontaneously took Elliott on his first vacation this weekend to The Last Resort in Blue Ridge, GA to meet up with Mama’s folks. We all had a great time! E was a little fussier than usual, a combination of what seems to be a growth spurt and all the new experiences. He met his uncle Ethan for the first time, enjoyed watching Virginia Tech lose his first football game (ha!), went on his first hike, toured an apple orchard, got in some advanced napping lessons with Grandpa and spent lots of time fascinated by the forest.

Shots!

Elliott had his 2 month check up last Wednesday… Dad reports that he was a trooper for his shots, only crying a little bit and letting Dad soothe him quickly.

Also pleased to report that our little piglet is 2 feet (24″) tall and 12lbs. 4 oz.  That means he’s put on 5 lbs since his lowest weight after birth, and he’s grown 3 inches–2 in the last month. He’s also still tall and skinny, less than 50th percentile for weight and around 75th for height.

9 weeks old

Since going back to work, I’ve been a total slacker! Elliott’s 9th week was a great one–lots of talking, cooing and time with Dad.
